Rasnov Fortress

Perched on a rocky hilltop 650 feet above the town of Râșnov, this medieval fortress was originally built by the Teutonic Knights and later expanded by Saxon settlers. First documented in 1331, Rasnov served as a defensive stronghold against invasions, and it was breached only once, in 1612, when the Ottomans discovered the villagers’ secret water tunnel.

With its restored towers, bastions, and spectacular mountain views, Rasnov Fortress offers visitors a step back in time and a panoramic glimpse of the Carpathians.

Peles Castle – Sinaia

Nestled in the mountain resort town of Sinaia, Peleș Castle is a German Neo-Renaissance masterpiece and one of Europe’s most stunning royal residences. Commissioned in 1873 by King Carol I, the castle was the Romanian royal family’s summer retreat until 1947.

Beyond the majestic exterior, each room inside showcases different styles and eras—an artistic journey through European design. Peleș was also the first fully electrified castle in the world, powered by a local plant built on-site.

Located just 100 km north of Bucharest, the Slănic Salt Mine is a unique underground complex known for its health benefits and surreal landscapes. No longer in use for salt extraction, the mine is now open to visitors and features a stable microclimate with constant temperature and air pressure — ideal for those with respiratory conditions.
