Honor, history, and national memory on the road through eastern Romania
Turn your transfer into a journey of remembrance. With an optional stop at the Mausoleum of Mărășești, you’ll step into one of Romania’s most significant memorial sites — a solemn tribute to the heroes of World War I and a symbol of national unity and sacrifice.
Optional Stop: Mausoleum of Mărășești
Located in eastern Romania, this monumental structure houses the remains of over 5,000 Romanian soldiers and officers who lost their lives during the Battle of Mărășești — one of the most decisive and heroic confrontations in Romania’s World War I history.
Construction of the mausoleum began after the war and spanned 15 years, guided by architects George Cristinel and Constantin Pomponiu. It was officially inaugurated on 18 September 1938 in the presence of King Carol II.
With its neoclassical architectural lines, monumental dome, and engraved walls listing the names of the fallen, the mausoleum is both a place of national pride and quiet reflection. It stands not only as a historical site but also as a lasting symbol of Romania’s resilience and identity
